Storyline draft:
The planet Spheroica is attacked by a terraforming ray of an alien spacecraft, while 2 friends meet. One of them is observing that organic things turn to stone by the ray and therefore tries to save his friend, who already turned into a sphere, by flushing him down the drain. The sphere enters a strange biologically evolving world of structures, creatures and robots, some who turn out as enemies. Pickups allow achieving skills. The player has to complete a quest for finding the exit from this seemingly artificial world.
Game design setup:
- Arcade-like jump&run setup in 3D, levels with multiple possible connections (jump down or up by trampolines, ramps etc. Transverse pipes. Elevators. (Flying, diving)
- Viewpoint: 3rd person
- Played character: a sphere. Possible protections from certain pickups, like spikes against being consumed by enemies lifeforms, shields or invisibility from robot attacks.
- Objects:
- pickups providing various (defense) capabilities,
- other characters (robots, enemy creatures – which are competitors for the pickups)
- platform: mobile devices (acceleration sensor used as controller), PC (steam)
Status of the project:
The code is level-based now with additive scene loading. Most of the objects are generated at runtime in code.
At the moment I work out the game design / the story (especially tasks, challenges and how to achieve capabilities; whether the sphere transforms at a certain point – step by step – back to a humanoid character). This will then be followed by designing (a significant number of) levels and assets – I plan to deliver a kind of sightseeing tour of architecture inspired by various decennials on earth here.
At the moment there is no demo at online platforms yet – I just present the game at events.
Here are a few snapshots of the game:

Here come 2 gameplay recordings: 1st level (maze) and 2nd level (arcade hall)
