Paradise Now

In fall 2024, the author Peter Karall asked me if I want to illustrate his story „Paradise Now“, that he planned for the next compilation „13“ of the Comic collective Tisch14. I was immediately enthusiastic, as I wanted to collaborate with authors and just concentrate on illustration. We discussed first and after the sketching phase I finished the pages in Jan. 2025.

The story is about two couples, who discuss on the value of AI and having made a digital copy of oneself. Tom likes this idea very much and convinces his girlfriend Martha to have this done at the IAI Institute, while the other couple (the Meyers) are sceptical. From there the story takes a dramatic turn.

I decided to illustrate this in the classical way of 50ies, 60ies Comics, using technical pens for background, machinery and archictecture, which inking with the brush all characters and some of the background pattern.

Celebration Day

„Celebration Day“ was handed in at the 18th Silent Manga Award, after I have drawn it in summer 2022.

The main character of the story is a young boy, who is rather interested in reading books to his friends, a dog and the chicken, instead of working at the farm he lives. But the animals are not there only for joy. There is a celebration coming and his mother plans to prepare chicken. What should he do? Read on at the SMAC magazine website…

New Kid in Class

I created „New kid in class“ for a call of the Tetsuka award contest in summer 2020.

Seli moves with his parents to the suburbs of Vienna and enters a new school. He tries to get in contact with his mates. Rolf, another colleague from class does not like him from the start and conflicts come up. That leads to a sports competition. Will Seli make the race? Read the full story at ART street…

Tatzelwurm

I created the Manga „Tatzelwurm“ for a call of the SILENT MANGA AUDITION contest with the topic „Myths, Legends, Monsters from your country“. It tells the story of a little girl that goes picking berries with her mother. Being enchanted by the beauty of nature, she runs away. The Recycler

This is my comic I am working on at the moment. It describes the story of Betran, a worker at the waste removal institute („Waste No More“) in a large city in the near future. Economic growth became a kind of religion, to which everybody has to pray at least an hour per day and tell others about it via social networks. The WNM sees to it, that products are renewed at short cycle. Recycling or reusing is forbidden, but in exchange media devices are given for free by the government.

Betran is not political but a sensual type. He does as told but reflects about what he does. One day he has to clean the appartment of a VIP, and sees the light of the afternoon sun reflecting on a small spherical object an the floor behind a chair. He is attracted, and approaches… Will he take it and risk his career? Stay tuned and you will see!

Fuchs, du hast die Gans gestohlen

This was my first comic I did at kunstschule.wien. When I started with it, my daughter was about 3 years old and we regularly read fairy tales or sang children songs with her. I knew „Fuchs du hast die Gans gestohlen“ from my own childhood, but now I began to reflect about it: What kind of character is the fox, where does he live, what does he do? Why does he steal the goose and who speaks against that? What are the motives of this speaker?

In this way I reinterpretated the story into a social criticism. The goose „lives“ in a meat factory. The fox strolls around, being unsatisfied with his live without friends or social background. He sees the goose, falls in love with her and frees her from the factory. They are hunted down but a paradox intervention from god saves them – for the moment. The open end is intended, I think about continuing the story. Tell me, if you want to read more!
